AHRA at the CSO Preparatory Meeting
On March 7th, AHRA’s Executive Director, Murdo Bijl, joined the CSO Group Preparatory Meeting online, engaging with global harm reduction leaders to address urgent funding challenges and the future of harm reduction efforts.
With harm reduction services in low- and middle-income countries facing a crisis, critical funding cuts with only 6% of needed funding being allocated; especially the loss of PEPFAR funding; have led to service closures, putting lives at risk and increasing vulnerabilities to HIV, TB, STI and viral hepatitis infections.
We stand in solidarity with our partners in calling for:
- Increased domestic funding for harm reduction services
- Strong pledges to the Global Fund
- A shift from punitive approaches to evidence-based harm reduction
The fight for harm reduction continues. Together, we advocate, mobilize, and take action for a future where harm reduction is fully funded and accessible to all!
