Best Shelter as an NGO of local harm reduction professionals and peers has over a decade of experience and access in reaching the non-state controlled hard-to-reach conflict areas in Northern Myanmar, where other agencies do not have the trust and/or the approval to operate. Best Shelter and AHRN has a long-established rapport in working with and supporting each other in advancing our mutual missions. Per the guidance of GFATM and the Ministry of Health and Sport to ensure in-country sustainability there will be a gradual transfer of budgetary responsibility from AHRN to BS, whereas AHRN will maintain overall financial control. Best Shelter is in a unique position to complement social-medical and clinical work, with their community-based peer and community support model, to effectively use our synergies to further the most needed innovative community-based harm reduction interventions in the remote rural outer peripheries, reaching current unreached marginalized and underserved communities and key populations.
