Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is a sublingual form of Medication-Assisted Treatment for opioid dependence. It acts an opioid agonist-antagonist which means it can produce typical opioid responses, but it also counteracts the effects of opioids and has a lower risk of dependence and side effects than full agonist opioids. Buprenorphine is included in the World Health Organization (WHO) Model List of Essential Medicines.
