International Women’s Day 2025
On March 8, we celebrated International Women’s Day, honoring the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in harm reduction and beyond.
This year’s theme, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” emphasizes the importance of ensuring that every woman and girl, regardless of her circumstances, has access to her fundamental rights, equal opportunities, and the power to make decisions about her own life.
At the Southeast Asia Harm Reduction Association (AHRA), we are committed to this vision by focusing on integrating through-care for incarcerated women. We are preparing occupational workshops aimed at strengthening their livelihood skills and expanding their opportunities upon release. By equipping these women with practical skills and support, we aim to facilitate their reintegration into society, reduce recidivism, and empower them to lead fulfilling lives.
We recognize that women, especially those who use substance, sex workers, and those from marginalized communities, face unique challenge. Yet, they remain at the forefront of advocacy, care, and support. Our commitment is to stand in solidarity, advocating for gender-responsive harm reduction services and policies that protect women’s rights and well-being.
Let’s continue working together to break barriers, challenge stigma, and create safer, more inclusive communities for all.
