Given the high incarceration rate of people who use drugs, he stressed the importance of including peer navigators, throughout people’s journey in the legal system, especially in the reception team for people entering prison. The session focused on how the prison system and civil society organizations can work together to support people before, during and when they return to the community after being in prison.

Participants discussed best practices and ways to combine harm reduction services with ongoing care. The session showed how local partnerships can help mitigating community stigma and improve health outcomes.
